Hi, my name is Estelle, and I am a Sound Healer, Shamanic Practitioner (Advanced 3 year training) and Reiki Master (Teacher level). I have been following a shamanic path since my teens, and I have studied shamanism for many years with the Power Path School and Sandra Ingerman, and The Sacred Trust. I have also very lucky to spend time in the Amazon rainforest with the indigenous locals learning about their relationship and medicinal uses with the plants and trees.

I am deeply passionate about holding circles and ceremonies for groups, and the healing and transformational power of sound and shamanic healing. I am a third generation Healer, following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother.

The History And Benefits Of A Cacao Ceremony

Ancient Origins: A Sacred Legacy

Authentic cacao ceremony London featuring ceremonial-grade cacao

Amazonas & Chinchipe (c. 3300–1500 BC)

Archaeological evidence from Ecuador (Monte Grande temple) and Peruvian cultures like the Chinchipe indicates ceremonial cacao use dating back over 5,000 years. Traces of theobromine and cacao DNA in ancient ceramics suggest cacao was consumed in ritual and in spiritual practices.

Olmecs (c. 1500 BC)

In southern Mexico, the Olmec cultivated cacao and likely used it in rituals. Remnants from public sites hint at mass ceremonial use . It was intertwined with feasting and elite symbols of status and spirituality.

Maya (250–900 CE)

The Maya venerated cacao “kakaw” consuming it in frothy beverages mixed with chilli, honey, and spices during marriages, funerals, and ceremonies. It symbolized fertility, abundance, and a bridge to the divine, governed by the deity Ek Chuah.

Aztecs (1300–1500 CE)

For the Aztecs, cacao was a divine gift from Quetzalcoatl. It was used in religious rituals, as currency, and a stimulant for warriors. The elite consumed it heavily, and Montezuma was renowned for drinking large amounts daily, and it accompanied priests into battle and the afterlife.

Chocolate Arrives In Europe

When the Spanish arrived in the 16th century, they encountered cacao’s spiritual use and transported it back to Europe. However, it was quickly sweetened, mass-produced, and stripped of its sacred context. While cacao became a European luxury, indigenous ceremonial practices were suppressed, though they survived in pockets.

Cacao Ceremonies In Modern Times

Since the late 20th century, ceremonial cacao has undergone a renaissance in North America, Europe, and Australia. These contemporary ceremonies honour traditional roots: ceremonial‑grade cacao, structured rituals, intention‑setting, guided meditation, and sharing circles.

Guided by respect for ancestral wisdom, a cacao ceremony is rooted in spiritual reconnection, emotional healing, mindfulness, and circle bonding.

Spiritual and Psychological Benefits Of Ceremonial Cacao And Cacao Ceremonies

Heart Activation and Emotional Healing

The gentle stimulant effect of cacao (from theobromine and phenylethylamine) can uplift mood and amplify emotional openness. In ceremonial settings, many experience catharsis; tears, laughter, or calm, unlocking emotional release and deeper self-awareness.

Calm and Meditative Wellbeing

Cacao’s gentle nervous system stimulation supports sustained focus, elevated awareness, and brings about a gentle meditative state.

Community and Connection

Shared sacred rituals foster feelings of unity, empathy, trust, and support. It is in circle and in ceremony that we connect with ancestors, spirit, higher wisdom and of course our hearts.

Physical and Biochemical Effects

Gentle Stimulation

Theobromine acts as a mild, heart-friendly stimulant without the jitteriness of caffeine. Combined with natural flavanols, it offers cardiovascular support and nuanced nervous system activation.

Neurochemical Boost

Cacao increases levels of serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins, providing mood enhancement, focus, and emotional equilibrium.

And of course Ceremonial Cacao is so good for you!

Rich in antioxidants, ceremonial cacao supports heart health, blood pressure, and circulation.

Sacred Cacao

From its origins 5,000+ years ago in South America to its prominence among the Olmec, Maya, and Aztec, cacao was, and remains a sacred plant revered for its ability to connect us to the divine, heal and open our hearts.

My cacao ceremonies are deeply respectful of ancestral history, and offer spiritual depth and emotional healing, community, and physiological wellness. Through intentional practice, we sit in ceremony to help bridge mind, heart, body, and spirit, whilst honouring ancestral wisdom.

About Me – The London Sound Healer

Hi my name is Estelle, and I am a Sound Healer, Shamanic Practitioner and Reiki Master. I have been very lucky to spend time in the Amazon rainforest with the indigenous locals learning about their relationship and medicinal uses with the plants and trees.

I am deeply passionate about holding circles and ceremonies for groups, the healing and transformational power of sound, which is particularly needed at this transitional time on our planet. I trained at The College of Sound Healing, where I am an accredited member, and I work with 432hz crystal bowls and Tibetan singing bowls, along with the gong. I have also trained with sound pioneers Jill Purce and Jonathan Goldman. I heal through sound on a one-to-one basis, and also in groups for sound baths and events for adults and children alike. I am a third generation Healer, following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother.
